Nap Buddies

Jack and mama and papa are all doing quite well. Jack is nearly back to his birth weight and eats voraciously at every opportunity. He inherited his papa's proclivity for sleep as you can see from the numerous photographs of he and I napping during the day. Jack was having issues with unhappiness for the first three nights after we came home from the hospital. I don't know if he was just all traumatized from all of the excitement (I certainly was; nothing quite so disturbing as actually having to witness a traumatic birth- men, take note) or if he had some methane issues and so forth, but he was inconsolable for three or four hours each of those nights. Last night was a little bit of heaven as sad Jack became happy Jack for the evening and Michelle and I bent over double watching The Best of Chris Farley from SNL. I think that we are both getting a bit slap-happy, what with the lack of sleep and all. Michelle is still the very coolest person in the world as she not only worked to bring our child into the world, but she also expends the majority of her energy at keeping him in this world. She is one impressive mamacita.

Our days are filled with attending to this little man's survival and with giving the love he deserves which comes to us by the grace of God. Let me tell you, I know that you have heard it before, but you can never truly understand until you witness it yourself. There is nothing more awesome with the exception of redemption than the creation of a new life. For those of you who have never seen a tear pass these eyes, you missed quite a site. I am awed and confounded by the blessing bestowed upon us little humans in this life.

We appreciate your continued prayers and look forward with great anticipation to introducing you all personally to mister Jack Carter (both of them, when possible).

So glad you called to let me know this pictures were available. I dropped everything and came straight to the library armed with several disks. It didn't even matter that the gas tank was empty and gas now priced at $3/gal. Look forward to many more pictures as we watch him grow and develop over the next months. Praise be to the Lord that Jack is doing much better with his spells of unhappiness. Love to the three of you, Mom

Little boy! Oh how I remember! He looks like his dad, and I'm sure you'll hear that enough!

Vessel is on it's way as of yesterday. Someone will have to sign for it so I hope it doesn't come in the middle of nursing!
